Construction Cost Under $10M- North Main Street Bridge Rehabilitation
Owner: Cuyahoga County
Designer: HDR
Contractor: The Great Lakes Construction Company

Byron Sah (Cuyahoga County), Joanne Shaner (HDR), and Chris Stutz (The Great Lakes Construction Company) will present on the North Main Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project. The North Main Street Bridge in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, a stone arch structure perched above a scenic waterfall in the Triangle Park Historic District, was revitalized through an innovative and collaborative effort by the team.  Facing severe deterioration, the project team worked with Cuyahoga County and the Village of Chagrin Falls to preserve the charm and character of the beloved bridge while minimizing disruptions to the surrounding business district. This project did not just restore a landmark; it demonstrated how transportation infrastructure can be seamlessly integrated with historical preservation and the day-to-day lives of a community.

Construction Cost Over $10M - IR-480 over Lee Road Bridge Deck Replacement
Owner: ODOT District 12
Designer: Arcadis
Contractor: J.D. Williamson

Adam Delfs (ODOT, D12), and David Buchanan (formerly of Arcadis) will present on the replacement of the IR-480 bridge decks over Lee Road, in Cleveland, Ohio. The project replaced the IR-480 bridge deck and rehabilitated the substructures. To accommodate the 180,000 vehicles that use IR-480 each day, a contraflow configuration was utilized to keep all lanes open. This variable lane width configuration allowed the bridge decks to be constructed half-width at a time, minimizing the number of construction joints and maintenance of traffic phases, which reduced the overall project duration by more than a year and half.  It also minimized impacts to Lee Road, a critical arterial for ambulances in the City of Cleveland.  While the project overcame some technical challenges its real success was the collaboration between multiple agencies, contractors, and consultants to complete the entire project from inception to completed construction in less than 5 years
